Amity's bet: a Thai software group becomes SEA's AI champion — $100M Series D, $100M ARR
Thailand's Amity pivoted enterprise software to vertical GenAI via acquisitions; $100M Series D, $100M+ 2025 revenue, IPO targeted 2027
Amity (Amity Corporation / Amity Solutions)
What the business is
Enterprise software and AI group from Thailand — chat/collaboration, voice AI, communications analytics and retail analytics — selling SaaS to retail and telecom companies, now layered with vertical GenAI and agentic AI.
How it started
Founded in 2012 by Korawad Chearavanont (grandson of CP Group chairman Dhanin Chearavanont) as Eko Communications, an enterprise chat and collaboration SaaS. In 2020 it acquired Thai chatbot maker ConvoLab and created parent company Amity; from early 2023 it shifted focus to building GenAI applications on top of existing SaaS.
What happened
July 2024: $60M Series C (Amity Solutions raised $41.6M led by Insight Capital; Amity Corporation $18.4M led by SMDV with Gobi Partners). March 2026: $100M Series D led by EDBI with Asia Partners, SMDV and CMLIM Capital — total funding reached $160M. Amity had assembled a five-company group including European firms Tollring, EGG Digital and Amity-Nordstar; 2025 revenue broke $100M, growing more than ten-fold since 2022.
How it ended up
Still scaling: 2026 revenue target $200M, IPO targeted for 2027; expanding its AI Research & Application Center (ARAC) in Singapore and continuing acquisitions across Europe and Southeast Asia.
Background
Amity is a Thailand-founded software and AI group started in 2012 by Korawad Chearavanont — grandson of CP Group chairman Dhanin Chearavanont — as Eko Communications, an enterprise chat and collaboration SaaS. In 2020 it acquired Thai chatbot maker ConvoLab and created parent company Amity; from early 2023 it shifted focus to building GenAI applications on top of its SaaS base.
The bet was that a regional software company could become Southeast Asia's AI champion not by building a foundation model, but by buying SaaS businesses and converting them into vertical GenAI and agentic AI products for retail and telecom customers — a 'Build, Buy, Bridge' strategy centered on its AI Research & Application Center (ARAC).
The strategy produced results: Amity says 2025 annualized revenue broke $100 million for the first time, growing more than ten-fold since 2022, with over 75% of EBITDA coming from its European units (Tollring, EGG Digital, Amity-Nordstar). In March 2026 it raised a $100 million Series D led by EDBI — which it called the largest GenAI funding round in Southeast Asia to date — bringing total funding to $160 million.
Amity is targeting $200 million in annualized revenue for 2026 and an IPO in 2027, expanding ARAC in Singapore, and continuing acquisitions in Europe and Southeast Asia.
What has to be true
- Ten years of enterprise SaaS (Eko, Amity Bots) gave it paying customers and sales channels before the AI pivot.
- The Chearavanont family's enterprise relationships opened Thai banks, retailers and telcos early.
- Buying European SaaS with recurring revenue (Tollring, EGG Digital, Amity-Nordstar) meant the AI bet was financed by existing cash flows.
- Vertical AI for retail and telecom targets measurable ROI, avoiding the pilot purgatory of generic LLM wrappers.
- EDBI's backing tied Singapore expansion to the round, giving a regional growth path and IPO runway.
What can be applied
A regional software company can ride the AI wave without building a foundation model — buy recurring-revenue SaaS and convert it, as long as real customers keep paying while the models develop.
Aftermath
As of March 2026 Amity is scaling: $160M total funding, 2025 revenue above $100M (>10x since 2022), a 2026 revenue target of $200M and a planned 2027 IPO. It is expanding its ARAC research hub in Singapore, developing vertical AI for retail and telecommunications, and continuing its acquisition strategy across Europe and Southeast Asia.
