Exclaim Robotics is a Zürich-based startup building autonomous mobile robots that perform routine repair and maintenance inside AI data centres: navigating a data hall, positioning at a rack and working the front face from floor to top rail without building changes. It starts with the highest-volume break-fix tasks — cleaning and replacing fibre-optic connectors, SFPs, copper cabling and failed drives — and hands off to a remote operator when its confidence is low.

How it started

Oleynikova's first look at the problem came while working on a robotics project for Azure data centres at Microsoft's Mixed Reality and AI Lab in Zürich. After co-creating nvblox at NVIDIA and holding a PhD in mapping and planning for cluttered environments from ETH, she left ETH in January 2026 to found Exclaim full-time, joined by Pfreundschuh and later two more long-time collaborators.

What happened

The company spent 2026 building the team and raising: the pre-seed closed with Founderful and Playfair, and two more founding engineers join in 2027. Its stated method is to train in simulation first, where a robot can practise a task far more times than on real hardware, then repeat on real racks with real sensors until reliable. Exclaim Robotics, a Zürich startup founded in 2026 by Helen Oleynikova, builds autonomous mobile robots for repair and maintenance inside AI data centres. After 15 years at Willow Garage, Google, Microsoft, NVIDIA and ETH Zürich — where she co-created nvblox, the mapping library now in NVIDIA Isaac ROS — she left ETH in January 2026 to start the company with founding engineer Patrick Pfreundschuh.
