Mailwarm's deliverability bet: warm up inboxes, then serve AI agents
Mailwarm bet spam was a reputation problem worth a product, not a campaign fix; PH #1 of the day in 2020 and again in June 2026.
Mailwarm
What the business is
Email deliverability software: Mailwarm builds sender reputation, mailX diagnoses why mail lands in spam, and MailAdept monitors and fixes inbox placement.
How it started
Amine and Thami Benjelloun began working on email deliverability in 2020. Mailwarm's first Product Hunt launch took #1 of the day on March 4, 2020, and the company went through Y Combinator's Summer 2020 batch as a two-sided warmup tool.
What happened
After YC the team kept the warmup business and stacked new products on the same problem: mailX (free, no-signup diagnostics via web, JSON API, and an MCP endpoint for AI agents) launched May 20, 2026 to PH #2 of the day with 606 points; MailAdept added managed AI-plus-expert monitoring. Mailwarm 2.0 relaunched June 4, 2026 and again took #1 of the day on Product Hunt.
How it ended up
Still running and extending: PH #1-of-the-day launches in both 2020 and 2026, an active YC profile, and a three-product family aimed at human and AI-agent senders.
Background
Mailwarm, founded by Amine and Thami Benjelloun, bet that 'my emails go to spam' was a reputation problem worth its own product. Instead of selling campaign fixes, the tool warms up a sender account through a network of real inbox interactions — opens, stars, replies — to build sender reputation, then monitors deliverability.
The bet proved itself early: Mailwarm took #1 of the day on Product Hunt on March 4, 2020 and went through Y Combinator's Summer 2020 batch. Six years later the company still runs on the same wedge, expanded into a family: mailX for instant deliverability diagnostics (web, JSON API, and MCP so AI agents can check their own mail), launched May 20, 2026 to PH #2 of the day with 606 points, and MailAdept for managed monitoring. Mailwarm 2.0 relaunched June 4, 2026 and again reached #1 of the day.
The YC profile lists the company as active, with 'thousands of teams' helped and three products spanning warmup, diagnostics, and maintenance — explicitly positioning for both human and AI-agent senders.
What has to be true
- Warmup attacked the root cause — sender reputation — so it worked across cold outreach, marketing, and transactional mail at once, compounding value instead of patching one campaign at a time.
- The 2020 PH #1 of the day gave a tiny team instant distribution and credibility; the same community rewarded its returns in 2026, with the 2.0 relaunch again hitting #1 of the day.
- The three products feed each other: reputation activity from warmup produces the data that mailX turns into diagnoses, and MailAdept sells the fix — one problem, three revenue layers.
- Shipping a free MCP-native diagnostic in May 2026 put the company ahead of the wave of AI agents sending mail, converting a niche tool into infrastructure for the next sender class.
What can be applied
When users keep hitting the same symptom across every channel, the symptom itself is the product: own the root cause (sender reputation) instead of the campaign fix.
Aftermath
As of September 2026 Mailwarm remains a small, focused deliverability company: a lean team around the Benjelloun brothers and head of deliverability Othman Katim, with mailwarm.com, themailx.com, and mailadept.com live. Its two Product Hunt top-of-the-day launches — March 2020 and June 2026 — bracket six years of operation, and the shift toward AI-agent diagnostics positions the brand for agentic-sender demand rather than competing head-on with general email marketing platforms.
