StreamAlive bets chat can make PowerPoint two-way; PH #3 of the day Dec 2025
Unmetric alumni's audience-engagement SaaS puts chat-powered polls inside PowerPoint; PH #3 Dec 17 2025 (227 votes), after $3.1M pre-seeds.
StreamAlive
What the business is
Audience-engagement SaaS: chat-powered polls, quizzes, word clouds, maps and spinner wheels that run inside Zoom/Teams/Meet sessions and, since Dec 2025, directly in PowerPoint slides.
Starting capital:$1.53M pre-seed (Jan 2022); then $1.58M led by Speciale Invest (Jan 2024).
How it started
Lux Narayan — part of the founding team at social-intelligence firm Unmetric before Cision acquired it in 2019 — noticed while taking online courses that hosts ignored chat responses. With co-founders Joe Varghese and Tina Lyngdoh he built chat-powered engagement widgets; StreamAlive became widely available in December 2022.
What happened
Two pre-seeds (Jan 2022 and Jan 2024) funded product work; by Jan 2024 StreamAlive reported 2,000+ users including Nike, Symphony AI and Persistent Systems. The company then went after the biggest presentation surface: on Dec 17, 2025 it launched a PowerPoint add-in that embeds chat-driven polls, word clouds, spinner wheels and maps directly in slides, hitting #3 of the day on Product Hunt with 227 upvotes.
How it ended up
Still live and pushing its office wedge as of Sep 2026: the PowerPoint add-in remains on Microsoft AppSource, free to install with paid plans from $30/month, and Event Tech Live has covered early education and training use.
Background
StreamAlive sells audience engagement for livestreams, virtual meetings and in-person events. Its core bet: the chat box people are already typing in — in Zoom, Teams, Meet, YouTube Live or Twitch — should be the controller, so no QR code, second screen or extra app stands between an audience and participation.
The company was started by Lux Narayan, Joe Varghese and Tina Lyngdoh, alumni of Unmetric's founding team (acquired by Cision in 2019). Narayan says the idea came from online courses where hosts repeatedly ignored what audiences typed. StreamAlive became widely available in Dec 2022, raised $1.53M (Jan 2022) and $1.58M led by Speciale Invest (Jan 2024), and by then counted 2,000+ users including Nike, Symphony AI and Persistent Systems.
In Dec 2025 StreamAlive extended its engine into PowerPoint, whose slides it says still underpin more than 80% of presentations. The add-in embeds polls, quizzes, word clouds, spinner wheels and maps that update live from meeting chat, and it hit #3 of the day on Product Hunt (227 votes, 37 comments). As of Sep 2026 the add-in is listed on Microsoft AppSource with a free tier and paid plans from $30/month.
The case is a wedge play: rather than displacing the dominant presentation tool or asking users to learn a new one, StreamAlive attached itself to PowerPoint and to the chat channel that already exists in every meeting.
What has to be true
- Chat is already open in every Zoom/Teams/Meet session, so an interaction layer that works inside it removes the friction of opening a second polling app.
- PowerPoint still dominates live presentations, per StreamAlive's claims echoed by Event Tech Live; upgrading the incumbent beats displacing it.
- The founding team had shipped a B2B SaaS before, with Unmetric's sale to Cision in 2019, giving credibility with enterprise buyers like Nike.
- A free tier (up to 10 commenters per session) and distribution through Microsoft AppSource lowered the cost of trying the add-in.
What can be applied
Compete in the room people already occupy: instead of replacing PowerPoint or adding another app, make the chat audiences already type in the controller — adoption then rides an existing habit.
Aftermath
As of Sep 2, 2026, StreamAlive continues to operate its chat-powered engagement suite for livestreams, meetings and events. The PowerPoint add-in launched Dec 17, 2025 remains on Microsoft AppSource, free to install with paid plans starting at $30/month, and has been written up by event-industry media for training use in education. No further funding round or public revenue figures had been announced in the sources above.
