Co-founders Martin Poulsen and Jonas Åradsson started Driversnote in Copenhagen in 2013 as a part-time venture, funding themselves with freelance work and a small equity-free Innobooster grant while taking no salaries until the business could pay them.

The company grew organically from a single app into iOS, Android and a web platform, then added Driversnote Teams for the employer and accountant side of reimbursement. ARR climbed from €2 million to €10 million with 2.5 million users by late 2024, and the founders kept declining outside money despite repeated investor interest.

结果

As of the November 2024 profile, Driversnote was profitable at roughly €10M ARR with 2.5 million users worldwide, still fully bootstrapped and independent — a working counter-example to the VC-first startup playbook.
