In 2022, Open Core Ventures approached Sveidqvist about co-founding a company around the project, pairing him with CEO Andrew Firestone. Mermaid Chart launched on Product Hunt in Oct 2023 and raised $7.5M in seed funding in March 2024 from Microsoft's M12, Sequoia Scout, OCV, Streamlined Ventures and others, launching enterprise products: a visual editor and an AI diagram generator.
