ScionicAI bets Korea's enterprises want domestic AI agents: ₩25B Series A with Naver Cloud

Seoul startup founded May 2023 bets Korean banks need compliant no-code AI agents; ₩5.5B seed then ₩25B Series A, cumulative ₩30B+ by Dec 2025.

ScionicAI (사이오닉에이아이)

它在赌什么That Korean enterprises will pick a domestic vendor turning any LLM into secure, compliant, no-code AI agents over building in-house or defaulting to foreign clouds.已上线

做的是什么生意

A Seoul-based enterprise AI company whose STORM Platform lets non-developers build and operate custom AI agents from internal data, meeting the security and compliance standards of financial institutions and large corporations.

启动资金₩5.5B seed in March 2024 (Korean Investment Partners, Hillspring, Samsung Venture, IMM); ₩25B Series A in December 2025 with 10 investors including Naver Cloud and IBK; cumulative funding over ₩30B.

起因

Founded in May 2023 in Seoul by AI B2B researchers and planners led by CEO Ko Seok-hyun, the company built STORM Platform and STORM Answer, then raised a ₩5.5B seed in March 2024 from Korean Investment Partners, Hillspring, Samsung Venture and IMM to fund hiring, GPU infrastructure and its planned push into Japan and Southeast Asia.

经过

In December 2025 ScionicAI closed a ₩25B Series A backed by strategic investors Naver Cloud and IBK Industrial Bank plus eight VCs (Atinum, LB, IMM, KT, Partners, Korea Investment Partners, Mirae Asset, Flux, BSK, Samsung Venture). It said the money would go into STORM Platform development, Japan and Southeast Asia expansion, and AI hiring; it had earlier signed a global collaboration MOU with Alibaba Cloud in September 2024.

结果

Still private and scaling: cumulative funding exceeds ₩30B, Naver Cloud is a strategic co-seller for joint projects in Korea and abroad, and the company's stated goal is to become a leader in the APAC enterprise AI market by 2030, with customers across Korea, Japan, Thailand and Indonesia.

背景

ScionicAI was founded in May 2023 in Seoul by a team of AI B2B researchers and planners led by CEO Ko Seok-hyun. Its premise: Korean banks and large companies will not put their data and compliance in the hands of a foreign AI stack, and they also do not want to be locked into one foundation model. So instead of building a model, ScionicAI built STORM Platform, no-code middleware for creating and running enterprise AI agents with governance built in.

The platform parses unstructured data automatically, pairs it with a high-precision RAG engine, and adds sensitive-information controls — the features financial and security-conscious buyers demand. Customers choose the underlying LLM, which made ScionicAI model-agnostic before that was standard positioning. The approach raised a ₩5.5B seed in March 2024 from Korean Investment Partners, Hillspring, Samsung Venture and IMM.

In December 2025 the company closed a ₩25B Series A with ten investors, led strategically by Naver Cloud and IBK Industrial Bank alongside eight VCs, pushing cumulative funding past ₩30B. The round funds STORM Platform upgrades, Japan and Southeast Asia expansion, and AI hiring. Naver Cloud is pursuing joint projects with ScionicAI in Korea and abroad, and an earlier Alibaba Cloud MOU (September 2024) shows the same global ambition.

The open question is whether a Korean enterprise-AI vendor can out-execute global clouds and in-house builds at home and in APAC. So far the bet has produced rapid funding and named strategic investors, but no public revenue or market-share figures.

这件事要成立,得有什么

  • ScionicAI skipped the foundation-model race entirely and sold what Korean enterprises actually lacked: secure, compliant, no-code AI agent operations.
  • Model-agnostic middleware meant customers could keep choosing best-of-breed LLMs while governance stayed local — a differentiator versus US cloud defaults.
  • Strategic investors (Naver Cloud, IBK) turned capital into co-selling channels, validating the domestic-vendor thesis.
  • A clear geographic bet — Japan and Southeast Asia next, APAC leadership by 2030 — gave investors a growth story beyond Korea's borders.

可借鉴之处

In a market where buyers distrust foreign data handling, a domestic middleware layer can win over the flashiest models: ScionicAI sold compliance and model choice, not AI technology itself.

后续进展

As of 1 September 2026, ScionicAI is live and scaling: cumulative funding exceeds ₩30B, STORM Platform serves customers across Korea, Japan, Thailand and Indonesia, and Naver Cloud partnership projects are underway. The company is hiring AI specialists and expanding abroad, with a stated 2030 goal of leading the APAC enterprise AI market; no revenue figures have been disclosed.
