Transistor.fm
A podcast hosting and analytics platform for creators and businesses: upload audio, generate RSS feeds, publish to directories such as Apple Podcasts, and provide playback analytics; by 2024–2025 it hosted 30,000+ podcasts.
10,000 (the two founders each contributed $5,000)
起因
Jackson had run a failed sporting goods store and been $80,000 in debt, later entering the SaaS marketing world; he met engineer Jon Buda at the XOXO conference in 2014. In January 2018, the two each put in $5,000 to start building podcast hosting, and on the same day began recording the 'Build Your SaaS' podcast, publicly sharing all revenue figures from the first dollar. They launched publicly in August 2018, with first-month revenue of $33.
经过
In the first month it reached #1 on Product Hunt for the day, with monthly revenue of $1,400; by the first anniversary of launch, monthly revenue was about $30,000, and the two founders went full-time. Around 2020–2021, ARR passed $1,000,000 while the team was still two people and unfunded; the founders later acknowledged stopping public MRR disclosures, but confirmed that growth became harder after seven-figure annual revenue and that there had never been a month-over-month revenue decline.
结果
Still running: by the end of 2024, monthly recurring revenue was about $375K (a third-party estimate; the founders had stopped public disclosure), it hosted 30,000+ podcasts with a team of about 6–7 people, and it had been profitable every year since founding; Jackson described it as an example of a 'calm company'.
