VoidZero builds open-source JavaScript tooling: Vite (dev server and build tool, now the shared foundation for Vue, SvelteKit, Nuxt, Astro, Solid, Angular and React Router), Vitest (testing), Rolldown (Rust bundler), Oxc (Rust language toolchain), Oxlint (linter), Oxfmt (formatter) and Vite+ (all-in-one TypeScript toolchain).

起因
Evan You, creator of the Vue.js framework, founded VoidZero in 2023 after a decade as an independent open-source developer. Vue and Vite had grown organically to millions of weekly downloads, but You concluded that a fast, unified toolchain for the whole JavaScript ecosystem needed a dedicated full-time team — something the sponsorship-based model couldn't fund, so VoidZero raised venture capital (VoidZero blog).

VoidZero shipped Oxlint (full ESLint plugin compatibility, type-aware linting, 50–100x faster on large projects), Oxfmt (Prettier-compatible, ~30x faster), and Rolldown, a Rust bundler with esbuild feature parity and Rollup API compatibility that became the default bundler in Vite 8. Vite reached roughly 129M weekly downloads by June 2026. Monetization proved hard: VoidZero tried a mixed licensing model for Vite+, then open-sourced it under MIT and started building Void, a Vite-native deployment platform on Cloudflare — splitting its small team between tooling and cloud (VoidZero blog; Cloudflare blog).

On 2026-06-04 VoidZero announced it was joining Cloudflare. Vite, Vitest, Rolldown, Oxc and Vite+ remain open source (MIT), vendor-agnostic and community-driven; Evan You and the VoidZero team keep leading the projects inside Cloudflare's Emerging Technology and Incubation organization, and Cloudflare committed $1M to an independent Vite ecosystem fund (Cloudflare blog; SiliconANGLE).
