AgiBot Valued at RMB 15B in 3 Years; Huawei Alumni Pursue IPO

Peng Zhihui founded AgiBot with Huawei alumni, betting on mass-produced humanoids; 10 rounds, RMB 15B valuation, No.1 shipments, Hong Kong IPO

AgiBot (智元机器人 / AgiBot Innovation 智元创新)

The betBet humanoid robots can move from prototypes to mass production: use Huawei-alumni team to build and cut costs, scale via shipments, reach RMB 1B revenue, list.Scaling

What the business is

It develops general-purpose humanoid robots and embodied intelligence: self-developed complete machines (four product lines: Yuanzheng (远征), Jingling (精灵), Lingxi (灵犀), and Kuituo (酷拓)), sold in mass production for scenarios such as factories and logistics.

How it started

At the end of 2022, Peng Zhihui (稚晖君), a Huawei (华为) 'Genius Youth' (天才少年) with nearly 2.7 million followers on Bilibili (B站) who is called 'wild Iron Man' (野生钢铁侠), left Huawei. In February 2023, he co-founded AgiBot (智元机器人, later renamed AgiBot Innovation 智元创新) with former Huawei vice president Deng Taihua (邓泰华), an operator of the Kunpeng (鲲鹏) and Ascend (昇腾) ecosystem, and others. The company's first-year revenue was only RMB 300,000; its core team came almost entirely from Huawei, and it started with 'full-stack self-development + rapid iteration'.

What happened

In 2024, revenue increased to more than RMB 60 million. In March 2025, Tencent (腾讯) led the Series B; in May, JD.com (京东) and the Shanghai Embodied Intelligence Fund (上海具身智能基金) followed on the Series B+ round, and the valuation exceeded RMB 15 billion. The company cumulatively completed 10 funding rounds in 3 years since founding, with investors including Hillhouse (高瓴), Sequoia China (红杉中国), BYD (比亚迪), Baidu (百度), SAIC (上汽), and others. In 2025, it mass-produced 5,000 units and, according to Omdia, ranked first globally in humanoid robot shipments with a 39% share. At the end of March 2026, the 10,000th unit came off the line; in June, cumulative output exceeded 15,000 units; first-quarter revenue had already exceeded RMB 1 billion. In July 2025, the company announced it would acquire at least 63.62% of the equity of Swancor Advanced Materials (上纬新材), a STAR Market (科创板) company, for RMB 2.1 billion; in September, the change of control was completed. The market interpreted this as a backdoor listing, which the company denied.

How it ended up

At the end of July 2026, according to a report by Caijing (《财经》), AgiBot started the process to list in Hong Kong, with a possible HKEX (港交所) listing as early as August 2026. The target valuation offered by cornerstone investors was between HKD 40 billion and HKD 50 billion; the company had hoped to raise it to about HKD 80 billion. As of September 1, 2026, the listing was still in progress, and the company did not respond to valuation rumors.

Background

AgiBot, founded Feb 2023 by Peng Zhihui (ex-Huawei, Bilibili star) and Deng Taihua (ex-Huawei VP), develops general-purpose humanoids. Core team from Huawei; Deng became chairman/CEO March 2025. First-year revenue only RMB 300K.

Full-stack self-development tied to rapid mass production: 5,000 units in 2025, global No.1 with 39% share (Unitree second); 10,000th unit March 2026, cumulative 15,000 by June, Q1 revenue over RMB 1B. Completed 10 funding rounds in 3 years; valuation exceeded RMB 15B after Tencent-led Series B.

July 2025: acquired 63.62% of Swancor Advanced Materials for RMB 2.1B, seen as backdoor listing (denied). July 2026: started Hong Kong IPO, possible August listing, target valuation HKD 40-50B. As of Sept 2026, still advancing, betting mass production supports RMB 100B market cap.

What has to be true

  • Peng brings traffic; Deng brings Huawei operating experience; Huawei alumni team breaks through in talent, orders, capital
  • Made 'mass-producible' the first bet: 5,000 units in 2025, 10,000 in 2026, using shipments to support valuation
  • Capital path: financing raised valuation, RMB 2.1B A-share acquisition, then Hong Kong IPO, bypassing profitability
  • Controversies: backdoor doubts, stock volatility, regulatory attention show capital ran ahead of business maturity

What can be applied

Star founder plus industry veterans bring traffic and capital, but mass production and revenue support valuation: AgiBot grew revenue from RMB 300K to RMB 1B in 3 years.

Aftermath

As of September 2026, AgiBot keeps mass production as main line: Q1 2026 revenue exceeded RMB 1B, cumulative robots exceeded 15,000 units, products cover four lines, plans RMB 4B revenue for 2026. Started Hong Kong IPO in July 2026, possible listing August 2026, target valuation HKD 40-50B. Previously acquired Swancor Advanced Materials for RMB 2.1B; its stock rose 1083% in 16 days. Denied backdoor listing. IPO pricing and mass-production speed remain key variables.
