Cycle was a French AI-powered platform bringing customer feedback into product development; Atlassian builds the Jira software suite.

Cycle was backed by a $6 million Seed round from Hexa (formerly eFounders), the startup studio behind Front, Aircall and Spendesk.

Mehdi Boudoukhane founded Cycle in 2019 with Hexa (formerly eFounders), the startup studio behind SaaS successes like Front, Aircall and Spendesk. The platform brought the voice of the customer into product development, ensuring feedback from customers and go-to-market teams was heard and acted on, and grew into the feedback engine of choice for product-led companies including Brex, Qonto, Alan and Alma.

Atlassian acquired the technology and team of Cycle to strengthen Jira Product Discovery, its dedicated product-discovery tool launched two years earlier and already adopted by more than 20,000 customers. Head of Product Tanguy Crusson said: 'When we met with Mehdi and the Cycle team, things just clicked: we share the same experience and vision for what great product management looks like.'

The entire Cycle team joined Atlassian's Jira Product Discovery team; the standalone Cycle product was discontinued, with its core AI features and feedback engine rebuilt directly inside Jira — so product managers work with structured insights tied to ideas, features and customer impact instead of scattered input.

The fit was structural: Cycle connected feedback to customers and used AI to distill it into insights — exactly what Jira Product Discovery prioritization needed.

Atlassian bought the team as much as the tech, with the full Cycle crew joining the Jira Product Discovery organization.

Killing the standalone product shows Atlassian's pattern of absorbing capabilities into the suite rather than running parallel tools.

For Cycle, six years and $6M ended in an acqui-exit where the product's DNA outlived the product.

For startups built on a workflow giant's platform, the acquirer is also the terminus: Cycle's reward for product-market fit was absorption — team hired, product retired.

As of September 3, 2025, Cycle's team was inside Atlassian rebuilding its AI feedback engine within Jira Product Discovery, whose 20,000+ customers would get evidence-based prioritization natively; the standalone Cycle product was being wound down.
