Linktree runs a link-in-bio platform for creators and businesses; Plann makes a Sydney-based social media scheduling tool.

Linktree, co-founded by CEO Alex Zaccaria, grew a link-in-bio platform to more than 50 million creators and businesses, whose most persistent feature request was social scheduling to streamline content distribution.

In recent years Linktree acquired three companies — link-in-bio competitors Koji and Bento, and Odesli, the automated music link aggregation platform. Earlier in 2024 it launched a beta social commerce offering letting creators add storefronts to their link-in-bio pages for a 12%-15% commission. On August 15, 2024 it announced the acquisition of Plann for an undisclosed amount, with the whole team, including founder Christy Laurence as a permanent hire, joining Linktree.

Scheduling was among Linktree's most requested features, and acquiring Plann delivered it as a working product with a whole team rather than a build.

The entire Plann team, including founder Christy Laurence permanently, joined Linktree, keeping the product knowledge in-house through the integration.

It is Linktree's fourth acquisition — after Koji, Bento and Odesli — a consolidation pattern across adjacent creator tools.

Linktree was already moving into monetization with beta social commerce storefronts at 12%-15% commission; owning scheduling extends it from a bio page to a distribution workflow.

The most-requested-feature list is an acquisition map: when demand is proven and users are juggling multiple tools, buying a working product with its whole team beats building from scratch.

As of the announcement, Plann continues to operate as usual for now, with its users to be transitioned to Linktree once the integration officially launches. Linktree did not specify what the new scheduling tool would cost users or whether all Plann features, such as the AI-powered caption generator, would be incorporated. The deal is Linktree's fourth acquisition, after Koji, Bento and Odesli.
