Emmanuel Darras and Ludovic Dehon founded Kestra Technologies in 2021 in France after years building data platforms; the kestra-io/kestra repo dates to Aug 2019. Scaling: on Mar 31, 2026 Kestra announced a $25M Series A led by RTP Global (total $36M) to fund Kestra 2.0 — a distributed execution engine with real-time observability and native agentic orchestration — plus a managed Kestra Cloud and go-to-market expansion in North America and Europe.

The bet targeted a structural pain — fragmented automation across data, AI and infrastructure — that grew worse as AI agents arrived.

Open source and a code-first YAML model let engineers adopt Kestra bottom-up, converting developer trust into enterprise standard-setting.
