Omnea bets AI can fix procurement: $75M from Accel to Insight and Khosla

Ex-Tessian founders build AI procurement intake in London; revenue 8x then 5x, customers from McAfee to Spotify, $75M+ raised.

Omnea

The betThat employees will front their purchases through an AI-native intake layer, and a startup can own procurement end-to-end before SAP, Workday or Coupa modernize it.Scaling

What the business is

AI-native procurement intake and orchestration: a single front door where employees request software and services in natural language, workflows route approvals and risk checks, and every supplier lives in one source of truth.

Starting capital$5M seed (First Round Capital and Point Nine) plus $20M Series A (Accel) in October 2024; $50M Series B (Insight Partners and Khosla Ventures) in September 2025; over $75M total.

How it started

Ben Freeman and Ben Allen, senior executives at Tessian (later acquired by Proofpoint), founded Omnea in London in 2022 after watching sales deals get wrecked by late, ill-informed procurement. Their wedge: software procurement has exploded—Gartner put 2024 global procurement spend at $5.26T, up 7.5%—while the average process takes six months and involves up to 11 stakeholders. Omnea launched an AI platform that triages requests, routes them, contextualizes renewals with user feedback and runs a supplier portal.

What happened

In October 2024 Omnea announced a $20M Series A led by Accel plus a previously undisclosed $5M seed led by First Round Capital and Point Nine; revenue had grown 8x the prior year, with customers including McAfee, Onfido, Proofpoint, Podimo, Robin AI, Sana and Typeform. In September 2025 it raised a $50M Series B led by Insight Partners and Khosla Ventures with Prosus joining, taking total funding past $75M; revenue had grown 5x and headcount more than tripled in 12 months, and customers had grown to include Spotify, Albertsons, Wise, Adecco and MongoDB.

How it ended up

Still scaling: Omnea is spending the Series B on 'AI supplier relationship management'—agentic workflows that flag expired certifications, launch RFPs and report to CFOs—and on hiring in the US and UK.

Background

Omnea is a London startup, founded in 2022 by Ben Freeman and Ben Allen, two former senior executives at cybersecurity company Tessian, betting that AI can fix enterprise procurement. Their insight came from selling to large companies: buyers avoided involving procurement until the 11th hour, so deals either fell apart or were waved through without real negotiation. Omnea's platform gives employees a single front door to request software and services in natural language, routes the request through IT, security, finance and legal, and keeps every supplier in one source of truth.

The timing argument was numbers: Gartner estimated $5.26T of global procurement spend in 2024, up 7.5%, while the average procurement process took six months and involved up to 11 stakeholders. In October 2024 Omnea raised a $20M Series A led by Accel plus a $5M seed led by First Round Capital and Point Nine, disclosing 8x revenue growth and customers including McAfee, Onfido, Proofpoint, Podimo, Robin AI, Sana and Typeform.

In September 2025 Omnea raised a $50M Series B led by Insight Partners and Khosla Ventures, with Prosus joining and total funding passing $75M; revenue had grown 5x and headcount tripled in a year, and customers now included Spotify, Albertsons, Wise, Adecco and MongoDB. The company is spending the money on 'AI supplier relationship management'—agentic workflows that flag expired certifications, launch RFPs and brief CFOs—while the big incumbents still treat procurement as a legacy module.

What has to be true

  • Procurement is high-value and unloved: $5.26T of annual spend with no modern front-end software, so a startup can land and expand quietly.
  • Founders saw the failure from the vendor side—deals killed or rubber-stamped by 11th-hour procurement—which made the product thesis concrete.
  • AI is genuinely useful here: routing requests, summarizing renewals with user feedback and flagging risk are narrow, tractable jobs.
  • Once Omnea is the source of truth for supplier data, switching costs rise and the platform can expand into analytics and supplier management.
  • The category is still owned by legacy suites, so Omnea is betting it can define 'AI-native procurement' before SAP, Workday or Coupa ship a credible answer.

What can be applied

Pick a boring, costly back-office process everyone touches and nobody modernizes; sell the pain relief first, then expand into AI agents. The threat: SAP, Workday and Coupa wake up.

Aftermath

As of September 2025, Omnea was scaling on over $75M raised: the $50M Series B from Insight Partners and Khosla Ventures funds its shift from intake and orchestration to AI-powered supplier relationship management, plus hiring across the US and UK. It cites revenue growth of 5x in the 12 months before the round and a customer base spanning North America and Europe, including Spotify, Albertsons, Wise, Adecco and MongoDB. No valuation, revenue figure or profitability status has been disclosed.
