Resolve AI bets agents can replace SREs; $125M at $1B valuation
Resolve AI automates production incident response with parallel AI agents; ex-Splunk founders went from a $35M seed to a $125M Series A at $1B in four months.
Resolve AI
What the business is
AI platform for production operations: connects to monitoring, code repos and security tools, spins up parallel AI agents to investigate each possible root cause, and generates fixes.
Starting capital:$35M seed (October 2025, Greylock-led, with Fei-Fei Li and Jeff Dean) plus $125M Series A led by Lightspeed
How it started
Spiros Xanthos and Mayank Agarwal, former Splunk executives who co-founded Omnition (acquired by Splunk in 2019), started Resolve AI in early 2024 to automate production operations end-to-end — root cause analysis, remediation, prevention and containment.
What happened
In October 2025 Resolve raised a $35M seed led by Greylock with World Labs founder Fei-Fei Li and Google DeepMind scientist Jeff Dean. TechCrunch reported in December 2025 that the startup was raising a Lightspeed-led Series A at a $1B headline valuation with a multi-tranche structure and roughly $4M ARR. On February 4, 2026 Resolve confirmed the $125M round at a $1B valuation, with Greylock, Unusual Ventures, Artisanal Ventures and A* participating.
No ending yet — it is still running.
Background
Resolve AI automates production operations: its platform connects to a team's monitoring, code repositories and security tools, builds a live map of the production environment, and when something breaks spins up AI agents to investigate every possible root cause in parallel — then suggests or generates fixes such as kubectl commands, config scripts and code updates.
The company was founded in early 2024 by Spiros Xanthos and Mayank Agarwal, former Splunk executives and 20-year partners who had already sold their first startup, Omnition, to Splunk in 2019. Their bet: as software grows more complex and distributed, companies cannot hire enough skilled SREs, so an autonomous AI agent that finds, diagnoses and resolves production issues in real time can replace that workflow.
Capital followed fast. In October 2025 Resolve raised a $35M seed led by Greylock, with participation from World Labs founder Fei-Fei Li and Google DeepMind scientist Jeff Dean. In December 2025 TechCrunch reported it was raising a Lightspeed-led Series A at a $1B headline valuation, with about $4M ARR; on February 4, 2026 the company confirmed a $125M round at a $1B valuation.
The round made Resolve AI a unicorn two years after founding and validated 'AI SRE' as an emerging category, alongside Sequoia-backed Traversal. The company plans to use the capital to grow go-to-market and build custom AI models for closed-loop automation — pushing from fixing incidents toward preventing them.
What has to be true
- SRE work is hard to hire for and scales linearly with system complexity, so automating the job itself — not just alerting — creates a clear, valuable outcome.
- The founders had already built and sold an observability startup (Omnition to Splunk), giving them credibility and the exact pain point from first-hand experience.
- Parallel AI agents investigating root causes turn hours of sequential debugging into minutes, a concrete efficiency story investors could price.
- Landing Fei-Fei Li and Jeff Dean in the seed round signaled scientific credibility that helped the Series A close at a $1B valuation within months.
What can be applied
Sell the outcome, not a feature: instead of another monitoring tool, Resolve sells the whole SRE job — and that job-replacement bet reached a $1B valuation while ARR was still about $4M.
Aftermath
As of February 2026 Resolve AI is scaling: the $125M Series A funds go-to-market growth and custom AI models for closed-loop automation — root cause analysis, remediation, prevention and containment, per CTO Mayank Agarwal. TechCrunch reported roughly $4M ARR as of December 2025, and the company denies any multi-tranche discount on the $1B valuation. It competes in the emerging AI SRE category with Sequoia-backed Traversal, which raised a $48M Series A led by Kleiner Perkins.
