Vixtra's importers'-bank bet: R$50M Series A for cargo-secured credit

Vixtra bets cargo in transit can collateralize working capital for Brazil's SME importers; the R$50M Series A follows $12M ARR.

Vixtra

The betThat cargo in transit is better collateral than a balance sheet: finance Brazilian SME importers against the goods on the ship and become their full trade bank.Scaling

What the business is

Vixtra is a Brazilian trade-finance fintech that gives importers working capital secured by goods in transit, combining credit, foreign exchange and software in one platform for the import operation.

How it started

Founded in 2021 by Leonardo Baltieri and Guilherme Rosenthal, both co-CEOs, Vixtra started from the observation that small and medium importers — more than 80 percent of Brazil's importing companies — were starved of working capital by conventional bank credit.

What happened

Vixtra built a trade-banking platform with AI-driven credit analysis and low net losses, growing to more than 200 active importers and a credit portfolio above R$250 million. In June 2026 it raised R$50 million in a Series A led by Valor Capital, with Headline, NXTP, Actyus, Bluestone, Simma Capital and angel investors participating.

How it ended up

The Series A will fund expansion of the trade-banking platform and development of stablecoin infrastructure integrated with its foreign-exchange and credit operations — what co-founder Baltieri calls the 'Pix of the importer' — to settle faster and cheaper for clients.

Background

Vixtra is a Brazilian fintech that finances importers. Its trade-banking platform combines working-capital credit, foreign exchange and software so a mid-size importer can manage the whole operation — from ordering abroad to settlement — in one place.

The founding bet, in 2021, was that goods in transit could serve as collateral: Vixtra lets importers borrow against shipments before the merchandise reaches Brazil, closing a working-capital gap that conventional banks left open for the small and medium companies that make up more than 80 percent of Brazil's importers.

The model scaled through heavy use of AI in credit analysis, risk management and process automation: by mid-2026 Vixtra had more than 200 active importers, an active credit portfolio above R$250 million, over US$12 million in annual recurring revenue and 2.5x growth over the prior 12 months.

In June 2026 Vixtra raised R$50 million in a Series A led by Valor Capital, with Headline, NXTP, Actyus, Bluestone, Simma Capital and angels participating, to expand the platform and add stablecoin infrastructure for faster, cheaper foreign-exchange and credit settlement.

What has to be true

  • SME importers are the majority of Brazil's importing companies but struggle to get working capital from banks, which see their thin balance sheets as too risky.
  • Using the cargo itself as collateral let Vixtra lend before goods arrived and gave it a tangible asset behind every loan.
  • One platform spanning credit, foreign exchange and software made Vixtra sticky — the importer's daily operation runs inside it.
  • AI-driven underwriting and automation kept losses low enough that growth of 2.5x in a year did not break the model.
  • Stablecoin settlement promised a cheaper, faster edge in FX, the company's next wedge against traditional banks.

What can be applied

Collateral can live in the asset, not the borrower: cargo-in-transit lending let Vixtra serve importers banks ignored, scaling to $12M ARR and a R$50M round in five years.

Aftermath

As of 2026-09-05 Vixtra is still scaling. After the June 2026 R$50 million Series A led by Valor Capital, the company plans to expand its trade-banking ecosystem and build stablecoin infrastructure integrated with its foreign-exchange and credit products, aiming to make cross-border trade settlement faster and cheaper for importers. No later round, acquisition or shutdown has been reported in the sources reviewed.
