An embedded mortgage platform for investment real estate, serving retail partners (banks, credit unions, proptechs) and capital partners (lenders).

That Palantir-style data standardization could make small investment mortgages fast and cheap enough to open the trillion-dollar market

Charles McKinney met Shreyas Vijaykumar when Palantir partnered with Freddie Mac to build mortgage credit-loss management technology during the US housing crisis. They paired up to modernize investment real estate finance, a market they saw as fragmented with no technology standard for small (one- to four-unit) loans.

Vontive built two products: a no-code white-label mortgage offering for retail partners, and structured-data underwriting that lets capital partners like Barclays and Colchis Capital deploy at scale without manual re-underwriting — cutting closings 'from weeks to several days' with full bank-quality underwriting. McKinney answered the 2008 echo head-on: $600M+ closed on algorithmic underwriting with just three defaults.

It targets the unautomated middle of US housing: consumer and commercial mortgages digitized, but one- to four-unit investment loans still manual, slow and expensive.

The two-sided wedge — white-label for distribution, structured data for capital — turns a lending niche into infrastructure other brands can resell.

Profitable since 2021 with three defaults on $600M, it made the anti-2008 case with operating data rather than assertions.

Speed is the product in markets where buyers race cash offers: whoever collapses the underwriting cycle without loosening the credit standard owns the niche.

As of April 2022, Vontive planned to scale its go-to-market team and partner network with the new capital; headcount had already doubled to 78 in the preceding three months. The company did not disclose valuation.
