A Slack-native incident analysis platform: a bot that starts response, opens Jira tickets and generates post-incident reports to learn from outages.

That companies would pay to learn from incidents, not just resolve them — analysis as a product, not a habit

$19M raised before the sale: a $4M seed in 2020 and a $15M Series A in September 2022. Sale price undisclosed.

Jeli was founded in 2019 by Nora Jones, who had worked on chaos engineering at Netflix and Slack, to help customers figure out what happened when things go wrong — surfacing insights so teams learn from an incident and react better the next time.

A $4M seed in 2020 and a $15M Series A in September 2022 funded a Slack bot that kicks off incident response and files Jira tickets, plus an incident timeline. In summer 2023 Jeli shipped a generative-AI tool that summarizes key points of an incident and drafts a starting-point report. PagerDuty was Jeli's first integration, and 90% of its customers used PagerDuty.

Signed to be acquired by PagerDuty on 2023-11-02 for an undisclosed price; most of the roughly 20 employees, including Jones, were to join PagerDuty when the deal closed.

The acquirer was already the platform: PagerDuty was Jeli's first integration and 90% of its customers used PagerDuty, so distribution came built in.

Jeli sold from strength, not distress — Jones called it a very healthy business, which made the strategic fit the deciding factor.

The deal filled the analysis gap in PagerDuty's Operations Cloud, extending it from resolving incidents to learning from them.

Timing rode the generative-AI wave: months before the sale Jeli shipped AI incident summaries, exactly the capability a platform acquirer wanted.

Selling isn't only for struggling startups: when the acquirer is already your platform and your distribution, staying independent is the riskier path.

The deal was signed on 2 November 2023, with closing at an undisclosed later date. Most of Jeli's roughly 20 employees, including founder Nora Jones, were set to join PagerDuty. The price was not disclosed; for PagerDuty the pitch was operational maturity — many capabilities working in concert, from internal resolution to managing customers affected by an outage.
