The team aggregated reader activity from dozens of social hubs for analytics and benchmarking, and founder/CTO Ilya Grigorik described the idea as extending Google's link-vote PageRank with the rest of the social graph—bookmarks, likes, comments.

By 2011 PostRank was a Waterloo Ruby shop whose architecture ran on EventMachine, and its product had real users: one commenter said he had built a reputation and SEO engine on PostRank's social-signal data and called the product amazing. The team's public technical work—especially Grigorik's blog—had made it well known long before Google came calling.
结果
On 2011-06-03 Google announced it had acquired PostRank. New signups were suspended while the team figured out what lay ahead, existing users were told the service would continue, and the Waterloo team headed to Mountain View to join Google.
