The company’s YC launch describes wafer-scale, multi-material 3D fabrication with 100 nm resolution.[1] That is a stated fabrication capability, not evidence that a particular chip design has passed customer qualification. We do not convert that resolution into a semiconductor process-node label.
An April 2025 Valley Research Park newsletter relayed a claim of one-tenth the cost of then-current 2D lithography and linked to the YC launch.[2] The paragraph does not provide a reproducible comparison. It is not a second independent production test merely because a different website carried it.

These pages do not establish a measured yield, throughput, device lifetime, customer acceptance or a fully specified cost comparison. They also do not document the amount of capital actually received by Atum Works. Unknown is not the same as failed: it means this case cannot declare commercial success or failure from the material reviewed.

A promising manufacturing process needs a use case with explicit acceptance criteria. For a buyer, the useful question is not whether every existing process will disappear, but whether a specific part can be made reliably enough at a viable total cost. A small geometry demonstration, a working device and a repeatable production run answer different questions. Keep them as separate milestones rather than treating one as proof of all three.
Analysis & application
- Choose one target part and record its required materials, geometry and functional tolerances.
- Specify what each sample proves: shape only, working function, repeatability or customer acceptance.
- Request test methods, sample size, failures, throughput and yield under stated conditions.
- Compare total cost for the same accepted output, including rejected parts, equipment, preparation and downstream work.
- Agree on a dated next test and a continue, revise or stop decision. This is our evaluation framework, not a completed audit of Atum Works.
