Aumet bets AI procurement can fix MENA pharma supply: $12M Series A after $1B GMV

Aumet digitized pharmacy and hospital procurement across the Middle East — 12,000+ pharmacies, $1B+ GMV — and won a $12M Series A in 2026 to push AI deeper

Aumet

The betThat pharma supply chains in emerging markets lack intelligence, not supply — so Aumet added AI procurement and inventory software to its pharmacy marketplaceScaling

What the business is

Aumet runs a B2B healthcare commerce and data platform: pharmacies, chains, hospitals and ministries order from 1,000+ suppliers through a marketplace, while its Pulse, Chain and Enterprise software handles inventory, demand forecasting and automated purchasing.

How it started

Aumet was founded in 2016 by Yahya Aqel, with Adel Haddad joining as co-founder, to fix how pharmacies source medicines in fragmented Middle Eastern markets. It raised a $7M pre-Series A in March 2023 from AAIC, Shorooq Partners and others to build out the procurement stack.

What happened

By 2026 Aumet's network spanned 12,000+ pharmacies and 1,000+ suppliers across Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Egypt and Oman, processing over $1B in gross merchandise value and 5M+ transactions a year. Its Enterprise system was deployed across 32 hospitals, 500+ medical centers and 18 medical warehouses, starting with Jordan's Al-Basheer Hospital.

How it ended up

On May 13, 2026 Aumet announced a $12M Series A led by Emkan Capital, with Qatar Development Bank, SABAH VC and AAIC joining existing investors Shorooq Partners and Right Side Capital; proceeds target AI expansion, GCC enterprise deployments and scaling Pulse globally.

Background

Aumet was founded in 2016 by Yahya Aqel and Adel Haddad on the observation that pharmacies across the Middle East ordered medicines through phone calls and fragmented distributor relationships, with little visibility into availability or demand. The company built a B2B marketplace to connect pharmacies, hospitals, suppliers and manufacturers.

The next bet was that the market's bottleneck was intelligence, not supply. Aumet layered inventory control, demand forecasting and automated purchasing onto the marketplace: Pulse for individual pharmacies, Chain for multi-branch operators, and Enterprise, an AI procurement OS deployed across 32 hospitals, 500+ medical centers and 18 warehouses in Jordan and beyond.

Scale followed the stack: 12,000+ pharmacies, 1,000+ suppliers, 5M+ annual transactions and more than $1B in GMV across Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Egypt and Oman. In May 2026 a $12M Series A led by Emkan Capital, with Qatar Development Bank, SABAH VC and AAIC joining, funded deeper AI tools and expansion across the GCC and internationally.

What has to be true

  • MENA pharma distribution runs on thousands of disconnected buyer-supplier relationships, leaving no real-time view of medicine availability or demand
  • A marketplace alone captured transactions but not decisions; adding AI forecasting and automated purchasing made Aumet the system hospitals and chains run on
  • Starting with pharmacy networks in Saudi and Jordan gave Aumet dense, recurring usage before it went up-market into enterprise health systems
  • Regional and Gulf investors funded the round, betting AI-driven procurement becomes standard infrastructure as healthcare systems digitize

What can be applied

A marketplace wins customers, but the operating system underneath keeps them: Aumet layered AI procurement over its pharma marketplace, turning transactions into the data that powers reorders

Aftermath

As of 2026-05-14, Aumet is still scaling: the $12M Series A is earmarked for AI engineering, enterprise healthcare solutions and international expansion, with Saudi Arabia named the top strategic priority. The company is building demand forecasting, procurement recommendations, anomaly detection and dead-stock reduction tools, and is working with Abu Dhabi's Presight on expanding its AI procurement platform across public healthcare networks in the UAE.
