What the business is
AI operating system for biopharma that unifies asset scouting, scientific evaluation and clinical data foundations on one layer where every claim is traceable to its source.
The bet
Pharma R&D's bottleneck is fragmentation, not model quality: one shared, model-agnostic intelligence layer spanning scouting to trials beats a thousand point tools.
Starting capital
$12M seed led by Accel with Air Street Capital and Elder Gull, announced 2026-05-26
How it started
Tilman Flock (bioscience researcher, nearly seven years at Palantir), Martin Copes and Zaki Trache were key engineers behind Palantir's AIP platform and shaped its life sciences practice. Accel tracked them at Palantir and met them shortly after they decided to leave; Perceptic grew out of London with engineering drawing on Palantir alumni.
What happened
Built in stealth to about 20 employees, moving beyond pilots into paid production deployments at multiple top-tier pharma companies, biotechs and CROs; reported a 50-fold increase in clinical data extractions. Emerged from stealth on 2026-05-26 with the $12M seed.
What has to be true
Founder-market fit: the trio built Palantir's commercial AI platform and life sciences practice, so they knew both the tech and the buyer.
Paid production deployments at top-10 pharmas before any publicity de-risked the stealth exit story.
Being infrastructure- and model-agnostic lets customers plug in their own tools, sidestepping the point-tool wars.
Traceable provenance on every claim directly answers pharma's zero-tolerance for AI hallucination in regulated decisions.
What can be applied
In a field crowded with best-in-class point tools, the connective layer that makes every tool's output compound can be worth more than another incrementally better model.
Aftermath
As of late May 2026, Perceptic has about 20 employees, most engineering in London, and is deploying the seed round into engineering and customer growth, with an expansion planned into the US where most of its customers sit. CEO Flock says the company is 'far beyond product-market fit.'
