An AI chargeback-automation platform for e-commerce merchants: it compiles and submits dispute evidence, and now alerts merchants to likely disputes before they occur, on a success-fee model.

The bigger money is upstream of the dispute: an AI that stops friendly fraud before it happens is worth more than one that wins chargebacks after the fact.

$49M total: $14M seed (2023, $11M led by OpenView), then a $35M Series A (Nov 2025) led by Viola Growth with a $10M debt facility

Ariel and Avia Chen, Israeli-American entrepreneurs, sold their beauty brand Babe Cosmetics after chargebacks ate its margins. Launching Chargeflow in 2021, they applied machine learning to a paperwork problem: each card network's dispute codes require different evidence, and a single contested chargeback cost merchants one to two hours of manual work.

TechCrunch reported the $11M OpenView-led seed in August 2023, bringing total funding to $14M, with thousands of customers and a plan to double headcount. On Sept 30, 2025 the company launched Chargeflow Prevent — fraud alerts before a dispute is filed — and won #1 Product of the Day on Product Hunt (489 points). In November 2025 it closed a $35M Series A led by Viola Growth, reporting revenue tripled year over year and 15,000-plus merchants.

Recovery was the credible wedge: merchants can measure won disputes in dollars, so a success-fee model sold itself without asking anyone to trust a prevention forecast.

Every dispute won enriched the training data — the recovery business quietly built the dataset that makes prevention predictions possible, a data flywheel competitors without volume cannot copy.

The founding story is the market fit: the Chen brothers were their own first customers, which is why the evidence-automation workflow matched merchant reality from day one.

Moving upstream raises lifetime value: prevention, recovery and (via Connect) network-level data let Chargeflow price against a $100 billion merchant loss pool rather than a per-case fee.

Sell the outcome customers already understand — won disputes — then use that wedge's data to move one step upstream. Prevention is richer than recovery, but recovery is what buys the data to prevent.

As of September 2026 Chargeflow has roughly $49M raised, 15,000-plus merchants and a product line spanning recovery (Automate), prevention (Prevent) and data networking (Connect), with AI-driven win rates the company puts at up to four times higher than manual disputes. It is spending the Viola-led Series A on enterprise go-to-market and completing the end-to-end automation suite, in a category where Mastercard forecasts 324 million annual chargebacks by 2028.
