Fika Jobs bets AI-interviewed video profiles replace resumes; $4M pre-seed, 100+ waitlist

Stockholm brothers Jakob and Alexander Dubois raised $4M so candidates build reusable AI-interviewed video profiles and employers pay 10% only on hire.

What the business is

Fika Jobs is a Stockholm video-first hiring platform where candidates complete a roughly 10-minute interview with an AI agent (powered by Google Gemini) whose answers are clipped into a reusable video profile employers can browse and revisit; employers pay only when they hire.

Starting capital$4M pre-seed led by Luminar Ventures, announced 2026-06-23.

How it started

The Dubois brothers hit on the idea while building their previous social app Gaff in Stockholm. Recruiting there, they nearly passed on a candidate whose résumé did not stand out — but a short conversation showed exactly the grit and drive they wanted. They founded Fika Jobs in 2025 (Swedish Tech News says it started under the name Fika AI) to turn that observation into a product.

What happened

A 2025 testing phase saw more than 50 companies use the platform, attracting thousands of candidates and resulting in several successful hires, with testers including Plenty Labs, SICS.ai, Kognity and Rebtel. On 2026-06-23 the company opened early access to candidates and announced a $4M pre-seed led by Luminar Ventures, with Alliance VC, Wave Ventures and more than 20 angels and funds, including King founders Sebastian Knutsson and Riccardo Zacconi of Candy Crush fame. More than 100 employers were on the waitlist at launch; a broader public launch is planned for autumn 2026, starting in Sweden, with the team expected to reach about 10 people by year-end.

No ending yet — it is still running.

Background

Fika Jobs was founded in Stockholm in 2025 by brothers Jakob Dubois (CEO) and Alexander Dubois (CTO), who previously built and iterated the social app Gaff. The idea came from their own hiring experience: while recruiting at Gaff they nearly passed on a candidate whose résumé did not stand out, then discovered within minutes that he had exactly the grit, drive and ambition they wanted.

The product makes that insight structural. Candidates connect a LinkedIn profile, Fika's AI generates personalized interview questions, and they complete a roughly 10-minute video conversation with an AI agent powered by Google's Gemini models. Fika then clips the responses into short videos and organizes them into a reusable profile, so candidates stop applying role by role and instead maintain a live presence that employers can discover and revisit. During matching, Fika says it anonymizes attributes such as age, gender and ethnicity to support fairer hiring.

In a 2025 testing phase, more than 50 companies used the platform — including Plenty Labs, SICS.ai, Kognity and Rebtel — attracting thousands of candidates and producing several successful hires. On 2026-06-23 Fika opened early access to candidates and announced a $4M pre-seed round led by Luminar Ventures, with Alliance VC, Wave Ventures and more than 20 angels and funds, including King co-founders Sebastian Knutsson and Riccardo Zacconi; more than 100 employers were already on the waitlist.

The economic bet is pay-for-outcome: the platform is free for job seekers, and employers pay 10% of a candidate's first-year salary only when a hire happens — below the 20–30% placement fees of traditional recruiters. A broader public launch is planned for autumn 2026, starting in Sweden, before international expansion.

What has to be true

  • Inverted flow: instead of employers screening piles of AI-generated résumés, candidates are pre-interviewed once and employers browse a pool, reversing who applies to whom.
  • Resume blindness: the founders' own near-miss showed the traits they hire for — grit, communication, drive — rarely appear on paper.
  • AI-era problem: as applications are increasingly AI-generated and screened by AI, a recorded human video conversation is harder to fake and shows what recruiters say they want.
  • Marketplace economics: free for candidates plus a 10%-of-salary fee on hire undercuts 20–30% agency fees and ties payment to the outcome.

What can be applied

Fika sells the candidate, not the employer: build the asset once (an AI-interviewed video profile) and charge only on the successful hire — aligning incentives and keeping the supply side free.

Aftermath

As of 2026-09-02 Fika Jobs is live in early access with a planned broader launch in autumn 2026, initially in Sweden before international expansion. The company remains small — expected to reach about 10 employees by the end of 2026 — and is operating on its $4M pre-seed from Luminar Ventures and a 20-plus-investor syndicate. No revenue or post-launch user numbers beyond the June 2026 waitlist of more than 100 employers have been disclosed in available coverage.
