General Intuition: $6B bet that gameplay action labels teach robots to act

Spin-out of Medal trains "large action models" on billions of button-press-labeled gameplay clips; Series B in talks at $6B pre-money by Aug 2026.

General Intuition

The betThat Medal's billions of action-labeled gameplay clips are the moat to train "large action models" that generalize to robots, moving AI from words to worlds.Live

What the business is

General Intuition is a New York frontier-AI lab building "large action foundation models" trained on action-labeled gameplay clips from Medal, Pim de Witte's clip-sharing platform with 17M+ monthly active users, so AI agents can perceive, predict and act in virtual and physical environments; it already has first partners on a commercial API in games, simulation and robotics.

Starting capital$133.7M seed, announced October 25, 2025

How it started

CEO Pim de Witte spun General Intuition out of his game-clip platform Medal in October 2025, betting that Medal's gameplay telemetry was a unique dataset for teaching AI to act. Medal's players upload billions of clips a year, and the company's June 2026 post framed the lab as the frontier for building "large action foundation models" rather than language models.

What happened

The lab announced a $133.7M seed on October 25, 2025 (PYMNTS), then a $320M Series A at a $2.3B valuation on June 25, 2026, led by Khosla Ventures with Eric Schmidt and Jeff Bezos. By August 23-24, 2026, TechCrunch reported it was finalizing an oversubscribed round at a $6B pre-money valuation with Valor Equity Partners, Point72 Ventures and Seven Seven Six joining existing backers, with proceeds earmarked for compute (including a CoreWeave partnership) and talent to push the model toward robotic embodiments. The company also shipped MIRA, a playable multiplayer world model built with Kyutai and Epic Games that runs Rocket League-style play at 20 fps in real time, and onboarded first partners to a commercial API across games, simulation and robotics.

No ending yet — it is still running.

Background

General Intuition is the New York AI lab Pim de Witte spun out of his game-clip platform Medal in October 2025, betting that Medal's hundreds of millions of hours of gameplay - with ground-truth action labels recording which buttons players pressed and when - were the ideal data for training AI to act in space and time, not just to talk.

The capital escalated fast: a $133.7M seed announced October 25, 2025, then a $320M Series A at a $2.3B valuation announced June 25, 2026 with Khosla Ventures, Eric Schmidt and Jeff Bezos, per the company's post quoted by PYMNTS. On August 23-24, 2026, TechCrunch and PYMNTS reported talks for an oversubscribed Series B at a $6B pre-money valuation, with Valor Equity Partners, Point72 Ventures and Seven Seven Six joining existing backers.

The thesis is that action models (what to do next) plus world models (what happens if you act) trained on billions of action-labeled clips from Medal's 17M monthly users generalize better to robots than text-trained LLMs. The company spent on compute via a CoreWeave partnership and hiring, published MIRA, a playable multiplayer world model with Kyutai and Epic Games, and onboarded first partners to a commercial API in games, simulation and robotics.

As of September 2026 the Series B was still being finalized and oversubscribed, and General Intuition had not disclosed revenue or a broad public release of its model; its bet on gameplay data as the path to physical AI had already drawn one of the fastest valuation climbs in the 2025-2026 frontier-AI cycle.

What has to be true

  • Gameplay action labels are ground-truth records of intent and consequence - which buttons a player pressed and when - a richer signal for training agents to act than text or video alone.
  • Medal is a proprietary, self-replenishing data moat: 17M+ monthly active users uploading billions of clips a year, giving the lab a dataset no competitor can license.
  • Capital escalation validated the bet: $133.7M seed (Oct 2025), $320M Series A at $2.3B (June 2026), then an oversubscribed round in talks at a $6B pre-money valuation within 10 months of founding.
  • The lab paired action models with world models (MIRA, with Kyutai and Epic Games) that generate training environments, compounding its dataset instead of exhausting it.

What can be applied

A proprietary action dataset can turn a consumer platform into an AI lab: the bet is that the world's button presses, not its words, are what teach machines to act.

Aftermath

As of September 4, 2026, General Intuition had not closed the reported Series B: TechCrunch called the round still being finalized and oversubscribed, with Valor Equity Partners, Point72 Ventures and Seven Seven Six joining existing backers, and proceeds planned for compute (CoreWeave partnership) and hiring around robotic embodiments. The lab says it has onboarded first partners to a commercial API across games, simulation and robotics and published MIRA with Kyutai and Epic Games. It has not disclosed revenue or a broad model release date; Medal keeps supplying fresh action-labeled data.
