Geordie AI bets runtime agent security becomes infrastructure; $30M Balderton Series A
London 2025-founded Geordie AI raised a $30M Balderton-led Series A to secure enterprise AI agents; ARR up 1,300% in five months
Geordie AI
What the business is
A security and governance platform that gives enterprises real-time visibility, behavioral baselines and remediation controls over their AI agents.
Starting capital:$36.5M total: $6.5M seed (Sep 2025, GC + Ten Eleven), $30M Series A (Balderton, May 2026)
How it started
Founded in early 2025 in London by Henry Comfort (ex-Darktrace COO Americas through its $5B exit), Hanah-Marie Darley (ex-Darktrace security and AI strategy director) and Benji Weber (ex-Snyk senior engineering director). Raised a $6.5M seed in September 2025 co-led by General Catalyst and Ten Eleven Ventures.
What happened
In April 2026 Geordie won the RSAC Innovation Sandbox, cybersecurity's most-watched startup showcase. A month later it raised a $30M Series A led by Balderton at roughly $180M post-money - reportedly the largest European cybersecurity Series A to date - with Crosspoint Capital joining and General Catalyst and Ten Eleven following on. ARR grew 1,300% in the first five months of 2026, and the platform is deployed across about 30 customer environments including AlphaSense (tens of thousands of agents) and Owkin (hundreds of agents across 50+ petabytes of biomedical data).
No ending yet — it is still running.
Background
Geordie AI is a London cybersecurity startup founded in early 2025 by Henry Comfort, formerly COO of Darktrace's Americas business through its $5B exit; Hanah-Marie Darley, formerly Darktrace's director of security and AI strategy; and Benji Weber, formerly a senior engineering director at Snyk. Its product gives enterprise security teams real-time visibility into which AI agents exist, what data and tools they can access, how they behave, and what risks they create.
The bet is architectural: traditional security tools were built for predictable, rule-based software, while AI agents make non-deterministic decisions and evolve over time. Geordie profiles agents, establishes behavioral baselines and runs anomaly detection, plus a runtime remediation suite called Beam that constrains agent behavior without blocking deployment - covering cloud, code and endpoints rather than just inputs.
The gap is real and measurable: 82% of enterprises already run AI agents but only 44% have policies to secure them. Geordie reported 1,300% ARR growth in the first five months of 2026 and won the RSAC 2026 Innovation Sandbox in April. In May 2026 it raised a $30M Series A led by Balderton at roughly $180M post-money - reportedly the largest European cybersecurity Series A to date - bringing total funding to $36.5M.
Customers include AlphaSense, where Geordie covers tens of thousands of agents, and Owkin, which runs hundreds of AI agents over more than 50 petabytes of biomedical data; Owkin's internal risk modelling attributed $12M-13M of prevented exposure to one proof-of-concept deployment. The company employs 37 people across London and New York. It is scaling, with no exit.
What has to be true
- 82% of enterprises already run agents but only 44% have policies - the demand side exists before the category does.
- Runtime behavior monitoring beats input filtering for agents that evolve, so architectural incumbency favors the first mover.
- Winning the RSAC Innovation Sandbox gave credibility that money alone cannot buy for security buyers.
- Named customers with quantified exposure (Owkin's $12-13M) turn security spending into a measurable ROI story.
What can be applied
When new technology outpaces every incumbent control, the wedge is the gap between adoption and policy - sell the layer that makes adoption safe, and the adoption curve sells you.
Aftermath
As of June 2026, Geordie AI is scaling: roughly 30 customer environments, 1,300% ARR growth across the first five months of 2026, and a $30M Balderton-led Series A at about $180M post-money that took total funding to $36.5M. It employs 37 people across London and New York, with plans to reach about 50 within three months of the round. The platform covers cloud, code and endpoint environments, and the company plans to keep expanding engineering while watching whether Microsoft, Google and AWS bundle agent governance into their platforms.
