MiroFish bets simulated agent swarms can predict events; student project tops GitHub #1

A senior student's vibe-coded swarm-intelligence engine tops GitHub trending #1 and wins ¥30M from Shanda's founder within 24 hours of a demo.

MiroFish

The betThat a swarm of AI agents simulating a parallel digital world can predict real events — and a lone student's vibe-coded engine deserves company-level incubation.Live

What the business is

Open-source 'swarm intelligence' engine: users upload seed material (news, policy drafts, financial signals, even novels), MiroFish builds a simulated digital world of thousands of agents and returns a prediction report plus an interactive simulation.

Starting capital¥30 million (~US$4.2M) from Shanda Group founder Chen Tianqiao, committed within 24 hours of the MiroFish demo (March 2026).

How it started

In 2025, Chinese university senior BaiFu (郭航江) used vibe coding with tools like Claude Code to build BettaFish, an AI sentiment-analysis assistant, in about ten days. After reaching 1K stars and writing a Xiaohongshu essay about it, the project went viral — adding over 20K stars in days and topping GitHub trending #1 in late 2025 (36kr).

What happened

Shanda Group founder Chen Tianqiao reached out persistently, and BaiFu moved to Shanghai to work with Shanda. There he built MiroFish — a swarm-intelligence prediction engine — again in ten days of vibe coding, and sent a demo video to Chen. Within 24 hours Shanda committed ¥30M to incubate the product and BaiFu became CEO of the new AI company (36kr, TMTPost). MiroFish topped GitHub global trending #1 on 07 March 2026 (TMTPost, DoNews).

How it ended up

Live and growing: as of September 2026 MiroFish runs as a Shanda-incubated project, recruiting via mirofish@shanda.com; the GitHub repo remains the open-source front door, with use cases aimed at financial decision support, policy/PR simulation, marketing tests and story simulation.

Background

MiroFish is an open-source 'swarm intelligence' prediction engine from China. A user uploads seed material — breaking news, policy drafts, financial signals, even a novel — and MiroFish builds a high-fidelity parallel digital world where thousands of AI agents with distinct personalities and memories interact and evolve, then returns a structured prediction report and an interactive simulation.

Its founder, university senior BaiFu (郭航江), became a poster child for one-person AI companies. His first vibe-coded project, BettaFish, an AI sentiment-analysis assistant built in about ten days, hit 1K stars, went viral after a Xiaohongshu essay, gained 20K+ stars in days, and topped GitHub trending #1 in late 2025 (36kr).

Shanda Group founder Chen Tianqiao courted BaiFu, who moved to Shanghai and built MiroFish — again in ten days. Chen committed ¥30M within 24 hours of seeing the demo, and BaiFu became CEO of the incubated startup (36kr, TMTPost). MiroFish topped GitHub global trending #1 on 07 March 2026 (TMTPost, DoNews).

The bet is that simulating social dynamics at scale beats single-model prediction, and that the GitHub star graph — two trending #1s in months — is a valid early signal for an AI product. The repo now carries Shanda incubation credits and a recruiting address, with use cases aimed at finance, policy/PR simulation and creative scenarios.

What has to be true

  • Vibe coding cut build time from months to ten days, letting one person iterate to two trending #1 projects fast enough to stay ahead of the hype cycle.
  • The product idea — predicting events by simulating societies of agents — was distinctive enough to generate global attention, not just Chinese developer traffic.
  • Attention alone wasn't the company: Shanda's ¥30M converted virality into incubation, and the second hit proved the first wasn't luck.
  • Open-sourcing the engine made the project credibly transparent and gave it a global developer audience to keep iterating.

What can be applied

A viral open-source project is distribution, not a company — the investment followed a repeatable pattern (two trending #1 hits), showing attention converts to capital only when it recurs.

Aftermath

As of 02 September 2026, MiroFish is live and incubated: the GitHub repository states it has received strategic support and incubation from Shanda Group, and the team is recruiting via mirofish@shanda.com. The product targets financial decision support, policy and PR simulation, marketing tests, academic research and creative story simulation; the repo documents a working pipeline (GraphRAG graph building, agent setup, dual-platform simulation, report generation) and a live demo. 36kr puts the arc from BettaFish's breakout to ¥30M in investment at roughly three months.
