Momcozy's wearable pump bet: cut the cord, then own the maternity aisle

Shenzhen's Momcozy bets mothers will pump hands-free anywhere; by 2024 it was the world's No. 1 wearable breast pump brand at 19.32% share.

Momcozy

The betThat mothers would pick a pump that fits their day: motor, reservoir and suction in one bra-worn cup with no tubes or wall outlet, at a mid-market price.Scaling

What the business is

Momcozy makes maternity and baby gear - wearable and hospital-grade breast pumps, nursing bras, pregnancy pillows, carriers, monitors and feeding products - sold direct, on Amazon and in Target, Walmart, Babylist and Boots.

Starting capitalOne disclosed round: an undisclosed private-equity investment from Aokasi in December 2023; growth was otherwise self-funded from sales, per the YesPress company profile.

How it started

Momcozy was founded in Shenzhen in 2018 by Athena Pan, the consumer face of Shenzhen Lute Innovation Technology. The question behind the brand was one the incumbents had skipped: what if the pump had to fit the mom's day instead of the other way around? Its signature product put the motor, reservoir and suction in a single cup that slips into a nursing bra - no tubes, no base station, no cord - letting mothers pump while working, cooking or walking the dog.

What happened

The brand grew mainly by word of mouth among American moms before expanding into a full maternity catalogue, and from July 2023 it pushed onto physical shelves in Target, Walmart, Babylist and Boots. Aokasi Private Equity backed an undisclosed December 2023 round. Chinese trade press reports say Momcozy focused over 70% of its marketing budget on TikTok, Instagram and YouTube, working with 46,000+ influencers to produce 4.87M videos with 3.7B+ combined plays. In 2024 Grand View Research ranked it the No. 1 wearable breast pump brand worldwide, and in 2025 it launched the W1 warm-massage pump and entered Italy.

How it ended up

Still live and scaling: Momcozy reports over 4.5 million mothers served across 60+ countries (Nov 2025 release) or 6M+ families (Aug 2026 profile), about 550 employees, and No. 1 global wearable-pump share in 2024 per Grand View Research.

Background

Momcozy, founded in Shenzhen in 2018 by Athena Pan, is the consumer brand of Shenzhen Lute Innovation Technology. Its founding product bet was that breast pumps had been designed wrong for a century: instead of forcing a new mother to sit by a wall outlet, Momcozy put the motor, reservoir and suction in a single cup inside a nursing bra, letting mothers pump while living their day.

The all-in-one M5 wearable pump became the engine of the business. Rather than a feature war over suction strength and settings, Momcozy competed on the shape of a mother's day - and grew mostly by word of mouth in the group chats and recommendation threads where new parents decide what to buy. Chinese trade press reports that the brand concentrated over 70% of its marketing budget on TikTok, Instagram and YouTube, working with more than 46,000 influencers and generating over 3.7 billion combined video plays.

The commercial results followed the product bet: Grand View Research's wearable pump market report ranked Momcozy the world's No. 1 wearable breast pump brand in 2024 with a 19.32% global share (22.21% in North America and 20.2% in Europe), and Chinese trade outlet Cifnews reported in August 2026 that annual revenue had passed RMB 3.5 billion, with about 40% of Amazon North America's wearable pump category. The brand expanded from DTC and Amazon onto physical shelves at Target, Walmart, Babylist and Boots from July 2023.

Momcozy used the trust from its hero pump to widen into nursing bras, pregnancy pillows, baby carriers, monitors and feeding gear - a whole maternity aisle rather than a one-hit product. By 2026 it reported serving over 4.5 million mothers (its Nov 2025 release) or 6M+ families (a 2026 profile) across 60+ countries, about 550 employees, and a rising search profile: Exploding Topics' August 2026 list ranked Momcozy #98 with +3,150% search growth. The bet is that comfort-first redesign of an unglamorous ritual can unseat century-old incumbents in a hardware category.

What has to be true

  • The reframe beat the feature war: rivals competed on suction and settings while Momcozy removed the assumption that pumping means stopping life for twenty minutes.
  • Word of mouth fit the audience: new mothers trust recommendation threads over ads, so a genuinely better product at 3 a.m. became the marketing engine.
  • One product's trust opened the whole aisle: once the pump earned credibility, nursing bras, pillows, carriers and monitors sold as easy yeses to the same customer.
  • Pricing wedged between premium and legacy: wearable freedom at a mid-market price with wider retail distribution than Willow or Elvie.
  • Small-creator social distribution (46,000+ influencers, 3.7B+ plays) scaled trust at a fraction of brand-ad cost, per Chinese trade coverage.

What can be applied

Find one unglamorous daily task and remove the constraint everyone treats as fixed: the components existed, the reframe was the product, and trust from the hero item financed the rest of the aisle.

Aftermath

As of 2026-08-24 Momcozy is scaling: Grand View Research ranked it the world's No. 1 wearable breast pump brand for 2024 (19.32% global share), and Cifnews reported annual revenue above RMB 3.5 billion with roughly 40% of Amazon North America's wearable pump market. It serves 4.5M+ mothers across 60+ countries via DTC, Amazon, Target, Walmart, Babylist and Boots. Exploding Topics' August 2026 list ranked Momcozy #98 with +3,150% search growth. The open question is whether it holds leadership as Medela, Willow and Elvie answer the wearable challenge.
