Digital bookkeeping app for Indian small merchants, with ancillary products around commerce and finance.

About $90 million raised in total, including a $67 million Series B in September 2019; backed by Tiger Global.

Five years into operating its ledger app, OkCredit launched OKShop in mid-2020 — reported exclusively by Entrackr in September 2020 — letting small shop owners set up online stores, create product catalogues and share inventories and offerings on WhatsApp. It competed with PayU-backed Dot, Dukaan and Sequoia-backed Bikayi.

By early 2022 the category was fraying: OkCredit struggled to raise a new round and cut 40% of its workforce to extend runway and narrow down on fintech initiatives, while arch-rival Khatabook had announced in November 2021 it would shut its similar MyStore app. Entrackr noted no merchant-focused app had come close to a significant revenue pathway relative to its fundraising.

OKShop was removed from the Play Store for new users by April 2022, with a full shutdown planned within months: existing users get short-term support and help migrating to other platforms. The company said it was focusing on its fintech initiatives and discontinuing products not aligned with current priorities.

Raising was drying up, and extending runway mattered more than keeping the commerce option alive.

The company said it was focusing on fintech initiatives and discontinuing products misaligned with current priorities.

Khatabook's MyStore shutdown five months earlier showed the whole category's commerce premise was failing.

OKShop faced funded competitors — Dot, Dukaan, Bikayi — it could no longer afford to fight.

When the funding window closes, kill adjacent bets before they drain the core: merchant commerce never found a revenue path, so focus beat ambition.

As of April 6, 2022, OKShop was already off the Play Store for new downloads; existing users were to be supported in the short term and helped to migrate to other platforms, with the app to shut entirely within months as OkCredit concentrated on its fintech initiatives.
