An online social shopping platform where users sell used or unused clothes, with Poshmark charging a commission on every sale.

Poshmark launched its India operations in September 2021 as part of a wider international expansion into markets such as Australia.

In October 2022 Naver acquired Poshmark for $1.2 billion. By October 2023 Poshmark emailed customers that India would close: 'while our ambition remains to connect as many closets as possible, we've made the tough decision to close our Poshmark India marketplace... This decision allows us to focus our energy and increase our investments in our core markets, the US and Canada.' The firm was also reportedly closing Australia and the UK.

The India marketplace closed on 26 October 2023; India had launched only two years earlier.

India launched in September 2021; a year into Naver's ownership, the spend outweighed the traction.

The email framed the exit as concentration: energy and investment into the core US and Canada markets.

It followed regional peers out — Shopee had shut India in March 2022 after only six months.

The wind-down was staged, not overnight: credits, listings and seller payouts each got explicit deadlines.

International expansion needs a local habit to transplant: social resale grew out of US closet culture, and two years was enough to learn it didn't travel.

Users could last use credits on 25 October 2023; new orders and listings stopped on 26 October; sellers could redeem earnings for the last time on 1 November; and the marketplace became inaccessible from 2 November.
