Ringg's pivot to enterprise voice agents: Peak XV adds $10M, 20M monthly calls
DesiVocal became Ringg after in-house TTS proved too costly; Peak XV's $10M Series A extension backs enterprise voice agents processing 20M calls a month.
Ringg
What the business is
Ringg builds AI agents that automate enterprise conversations and workflows — voice calls plus chat, WhatsApp and browser-based agents — for customers including CRED, Flipkart, Practo, Groww and Policybazaar.
How it started
Ringg was founded in October 2023 by Siddharth Shankar Tripathi (ex-Groww and Flipkart), Utkarsh Shukla (ex-Blinkit and Atlan) and Kali Charan Vemuru (ex-Flipkart), originally as DesiVocal, a text-to-speech startup. Training its own speech models proved expensive, so the founders moved up the stack and built voice AI agents for enterprises; Indian fintech CRED became the first customer.
What happened
Ringg signed Indian startups including Flipkart, Practo, Groww and Policybazaar, initially running high-volume, low-complexity outbound calls, lead qualification and loan collection — use cases co-founder Tripathi says were not sticky and would always be a price game. It shifted toward complex workflows such as appointment booking across about 1,200 Practo clinics, abandoned-cart recovery for e-commerce and onboarding/KYC for fintech, and expanded beyond voice into chat, WhatsApp and browser-based agents (including support automation for Shell). It raised a $5.5M Series A led by Arkam Ventures in January 2026, then a $10M extension led by Peak XV Partners in August 2026 that brought the round to $15.5M, with Arkam Ventures and Capital 2B also participating.
No ending yet — it is still running.
Background
Ringg is a Bengaluru enterprise voice AI startup founded in October 2023 by Siddharth Shankar Tripathi, Utkarsh Shukla and Kali Charan Vemuru. It started life as DesiVocal, a text-to-speech startup, but the founders found training their own speech models too expensive and pivoted up the stack: building AI agents that automate business conversations and workflows, with CRED as the first customer.
Ringg now counts Flipkart, Practo, Groww and Policybazaar among customers and processes about 20 million call attempts a month, with voice still more than 70% of its business and agents deployed across roughly 1,200 Practo clinics for appointment booking and patient follow-ups. It is expanding into chat, WhatsApp and browser-based agents and targeting workflows such as abandoned-cart recovery and fintech onboarding and KYC.
The company raised a $5.5M Series A led by Arkam Ventures in January 2026 and added a $10M extension led by Peak XV Partners in August 2026, bringing the round to $15.5M. Co-founder Siddharth Tripathi told TechCrunch the startup deliberately moved away from high-volume, low-complexity calls — lead qualification and loan collection — because those were not sticky and were always a price game; the goal is to be a platform for agents that bring outcomes rather than a vendor of cheap voice calls.
What has to be true
- Ringg pivoted after learning in-house speech models were too costly to sustain, a market signal many TTS startups missed.
- 20 million call attempts a month and 1,200 Practo clinics show real volume behind the enterprise voice bet.
- Moving from simple calls to booking, cart-recovery and KYC workflows targets stickier, higher-value outcomes.
- Peak XV and Arkam backing gives it capital to expand beyond voice into chat, WhatsApp and browser agents.
What can be applied
When the underlying capability becomes a price war, move up the stack to the workflow that owns the customer outcome; stickiness and pricing power live in end-to-end tasks, not per-call volume.
Aftermath
As of September 2026, Ringg is live and scaling: about 40 employees, 20 million monthly call attempts, and voice still more than 70% of its business. Most customers are in India, with a handful in the Middle East and the U.S.; rather than selling directly to U.S. companies, Ringg plans to partner with India's global capability centers to sell automation alongside human support. The fresh capital will expand its voice, WhatsApp and browser agents and fund proprietary models and a context graph.
