Superlog bets observability should fix bugs itself, not page humans

Superlog sells AI-native observability: a wizard instruments a codebase with OpenTelemetry, an agent groups errors into incidents, and it posts one ready-to-merge fix PR per incident into Slack.

That observability should be an agent that maintains its own telemetry and closes incidents with mergeable pull requests, not dashboards engineers babysit.

Co-founders Nicolò Magnante, an ex-BCG consultant who had scaled two startups to millions in ARR, and Arseniy Shishaev, who spent years building high-performance data systems at Datadog and got paged at night for production incidents, kept finding that Sentry, Datadog and Grafana flooded Slack with duplicates while setup and maintenance never ended.

Admitted to Y Combinator's Spring 2026 batch, the pair built Superlog on a counterintuitive slogan: it is 'the observability tool you're not supposed to open.' The product scans a repository, instruments it with native OpenTelemetry, re-runs daily so telemetry does not decay as code changes, fingerprints errors into incidents, and has an agent investigate with full context and draft a fix. In June 2026 they released the core under Apache 2.0 and launched Superlog Cloud with a free tier and metered plans.

As of late August 2026 Superlog is an active two-person startup: the self-hosted community edition and paid Cloud product are both live, the GitHub repository holds the agentic pipeline, and YC lists the company as active with no disclosed revenue or customer counts.

The founders experienced the pain first-hand: Shishaev was paged at Datadog for production incidents while telemetry setup never ended (YC launch; Fondo).

Alert fatigue is a category-wide complaint against Sentry and Datadog, so a tool that groups duplicates into one incident attacks the incumbent's weakest moment (YC launch).

Open-sourcing the core under Apache 2.0 gave a two-person team a distribution and trust path against vendor lock-in fears (EveryDev.ai).

Y Combinator's Spring 2026 platform and a strong Show HN gave the product early visibility that its much larger competitors bought with years of marketing.

Attack a category by deleting its core ritual: if the pain is configuring and babysitting monitors, sell the absence of that work, not a better dashboard.

As of late August 2026 Superlog is active with both a self-hosted Apache-2.0 community edition and a paid Superlog Cloud, run by two people out of San Francisco. The company has disclosed neither revenue nor customer counts, and YC lists no round beyond its standard investment. The durability of the bet depends on whether agent-written fixes earn enough trust to be merged, whether telemetry that installs itself stays correct as codebases grow, and whether the startup can convert its open-source attention into paying teams before Datadog and Sentry ship the same loop.
