Apoorv Shankar, previously VP of hardware at smart-ring maker Ultrahuman, founded Aina in May 2025 across Bengaluru and San Francisco, arguing that phones and computers are 'still primarily designed for browsing.' Operating in stealth as Project Mirage, an HCI lab, he set out to build a context-aware hardware layer for AI.
