Charles Kantor, a Stanford researcher, co-founded it with four Google DeepMind alumni: Karl Tuyls, Laurent Sifre, Daan Wierstra and Julien Perolat. In May 2024 the startup announced a $220M seed to fund compute, datasets and a 25-person research team chasing 'frontier action models' and, in Kantor's framing, AGI.

Three months after the round, in August 2024, three of the five co-founders — Tuyls, Wierstra and Perolat — left citing 'operational differences', before any public product. Runner H, a generalist agent aimed at enterprise work, reached beta in November 2024, and a wider suite (Runner H 2.0, Surfer H, Tester H) followed in June 2025. On 2025-06-13 H replaced CEO Charles Kantor with Gautier Cloix, who spent a decade at Palantir and led its French business; Cloix moved the company toward Palantir-style 'forward-deployed' enterprise delivery, with Laurent Sifre staying as CTO.

As of mid-June 2025 the bet is unresolved but the company is still running: H remains independent under new CEO Gautier Cloix with agents on the market, Sifre as the last of the five original co-founders in an operating role, and Kantor remaining a shareholder rather than CEO.
