Superset is an open-source, terminal-first IDE where each coding agent runs in its own isolated git worktree with its own branch, terminal and environment. It bundles agent monitoring, a built-in terminal with persistent sessions, a diff viewer and in-app browser for ports, scheduled automations, remote workspaces, a CLI, a TypeScript SDK and an MCP server, and works with any CLI coding agent — Claude Code, Codex, OpenCode, Cursor Agent and more. The desktop app is free forever under the Elastic License 2.0, and users bring their own model subscriptions and API keys.

起因

Three engineers — Avi, Kiet and Satya, described by The Agent Times as former CTOs of YC-backed startups — had built and maintained large codebases and kept wanting to work on more than one thing at a time. Once CLI coding agents got good, they ran several in parallel: triaging GitHub issues, adding UI features, reviewing PRs, researching refactors. Their first version was mostly an open-source terminal for managing git worktrees; an earlier HN post (item 46368739) and feedback from people using it on real codebases reshaped the product.

经过

After months of daily-driving the tool plus open-source community contributions, Superset grew into an IDE for managing agent work across many worktrees, repos and machines: task and issue tracking so work moves issue → agent → diff → PR → review without losing context, plus Remote Workspaces (beta) that let agents run on remote machines while the desktop app, CLI or phone manage them. To support that, the team isolated the Electron app's core into a headless Hono server so any client can drive the same workspaces.

结果

Still building and shipping daily: the roadmap centers on the Superset CLI, remote-workspace flows and Superset Mobile, and the three-person company is hiring engineers in San Francisco.
