DeepWisdom builds multi-agent AI development software: the open-source MetaGPT framework and the commercial MGX/Atoms platform, where chat agents act as product manager, architect, engineer and data analyst to research, build, deploy and market full-stack web products.

That vibe coding needs a whole software company, not a smarter assistant: role-playing agents should turn one prompt into a deployed full-stack product, not a demo.

~RMB 220M (~$30.8M) across two rounds in H1 2025 from Ant Group, Cathay Capital, Jinqiu Fund, MindWorks Capital, BV Baidu Ventures and Concept Capital.

Wu Chenglin founded DeepWisdom in Shenzhen in 2019 after leading large-scale AI work at Huawei and Tencent. The company acted more like a lab than a startup, funding a joint frontier research program while doing enterprise AI automation. In June 2023 it open-sourced MetaGPT, a multi-agent framework that simulated a software company executing standard operating procedures; the repo grew to roughly 58.8k stars and became DeepWisdom's community and talent funnel.

In February 2025 DeepWisdom launched MGX (MetaGPT X), 'the world's first AI dev team', while still cash-strapped - servers and model credits were obtained on credit from UCloud and AWS. Within a month it claimed ~500,000 registered users and $1M ARR; in March 2025 MGX was PH #1 of the Day and #1 of the Week, and by September 2025 it drew ~1.2M monthly visits and generated 10,000+ apps per day. In H1 2025 the company closed ~RMB 220M in two rounds. On 2026-01-13 it renamed the product Atoms, adding built-in auth, database and payments plus SEO agents so generated apps can go from idea to revenue, and Atoms ranked PH #1 of the Day on 2026-02-03 with 430 votes.

Still scaling: as of 2026-09-02 DeepWisdom runs Atoms as its flagship commercial product, reported 80+ employees in early 2026 and was preparing a Silicon Valley office; no shutdown or exit.

Multi-agent SOPs were the differentiator from single-assistant coding tools: role separation let one prompt produce research, specs, code and testing instead of a demo page.

Open source proved the concept first: ~58.8k GitHub stars on MetaGPT gave DeepWisdom a global developer community and hiring funnel before commercialization.

Cash constraints forced a clean bet: launching MGX on credit with no ad budget and still hitting $1M ARR in a month showed real demand existed.

The Atoms rebrand attacked the 'toy app' critique by shipping auth, database and payments - parts rivals left out - and PH #1 with 430 votes on 2026-02-03 signaled the message landed.

Price-performance on open models was the second bet: combining DeepSeek and Qwen to undercut Lovable and Replit while claiming better output for price-sensitive users.

A research and open-source reputation can be a startup's cheapest distribution: MetaGPT's stars and community did the cold start that DeepWisdom's cash-strapped launch budget could not.

As of 2026-09-02 DeepWisdom continues to operate Atoms as its flagship commercial product while MetaGPT remains open source. The founder's public position is that cost-efficient combinations of open models can outcompete Lovable and Replit on price-performance, and that AI intensifies rather than removes competition, so company design still matters. No newer revenue or user figures were published after the September 2025 metrics.
