Swytchcode bets APIs must become AI experiences; PH #1 Nov 2025, then rebuilt for agents

Swytchcode is a developer-tools startup that turns API documentation into interactive AI experiences: drop in an OpenAPI or Postman spec and get a live playground where developers — and AI agents via MCP — can chat, test endpoints and generate workflows. Founded in October 2024 by Chilarai Mushahary and Aditya Rohit, it began life as 'Wreken' and was built on the observation that good docs are no longer enough: developers want playgrounds, instant snippets, and agents that can call APIs on their own.

The bet is bigger than docs: AI agents break on raw REST endpoints, so API publishers need policy-controlled, deterministic interfaces. Swytchcode's wedge was the docs page itself — free for open-source projects — and its November 16, 2025 Product Hunt launch took #1 Product of the Day with 400 upvotes and 81 comments, ahead of RBD at 335.

What followed was the interesting part: the team publicly admitted the launch product 'looked very different' from what the market needed, and rebuilt. On June 17, 2026 it shipped the Swytchcode CLI — an execution layer that validates schemas, handles authentication, guarantees idempotency and enforces policy across 2,000+ APIs, working with Claude, Cursor, Copilot and any MCP-capable agent.

As of June 2026 Swytchcode remains an independent, live product with 100+ API publishers reported on its site and no disclosed venture funding; the thesis — that APIs must be AI-ready — survived the product rebuild.
