Syndio is a Seattle pay equity software company serving nearly 400 global enterprises, including more than half the Fortune 100.

Acquiring a team that has deployed agentic AI inside enterprises is faster than hiring that expertise one role at a time.

Undisclosed price; Syndio's total funding is $83M.

Syndio was founded in 2017 by data scientist and law professor Zev Eigen; Maria Colacurcio, who co-founded Smartsheet, joined in 2018 as CEO.

Syndio announced on a Tuesday that it had acquired Embrace.ai, which builds AI-driven workflow automation with a focus on governance and explainability in enterprises. Co-founders Derek Butts, a 13-year Workday veteran who becomes SVP of product strategy, and Seth Halpern, who becomes a strategic advisor, joined with the full team.

Syndio wanted AI that understands the domain, data and governance expectations of large employers

A whole team with three years of enterprise agentic deployments was faster than hiring individuals

Large employers increasingly demand governance and explainability for compensation decisions

Moving beyond compliance reporting needs real-time decision support

When a capability is scarce, acquiring a team that already runs it in production can beat building it, even for a company that had never acquired before.

As of 24 June 2026 the acquisition was complete and the Embrace.ai team had joined Syndio, which had 140 employees. No price or product release date was disclosed.
