What the business is
Builds autonomous web agents that monitor sites and act on a user's behalf; first product is Scouts
The bet
That AI agents, not users, should surf the web — proactive 'chief of staff' agents replace the chat box, and the whole interface needs redesigning around them
Starting capital
$15M seed led by Radical Ventures, with Felicis, Elad Gil, Sarah Guo, Jeff Dean and Fei-Fei Li
How it started
Devi Parikh led Meta's multimodal AI research, Dhruv Batra headed embodied AI, Abhishek Das was a FAIR research scientist; the three friends — Parikh and Batra married since 2010 — met weekly for years plotting an agents company
What happened
A year after leaving, Yutori launched Scouts on June 10, 2025 — free, waitlisted, running on Llama — with no monetization plan: 'an experiment' in how people actually use autonomous agents, said Batra. Team of 15.
What has to be true
The bet is the interface, not just the product: agents that act for you need dynamic presentations per task, not a rigid chat box or web page.
Scouts is deliberately narrow — condition-monitoring and notification — because the team wants real usage data before building proactive agents.
Investors priced the trio's pedigree: a $15M seed for a free, waitlisted product built by researchers who prototyped assistants for Meta's Ray-Ban smart glasses.
What can be applied
When a platform shift opens, the first product can be an instrument for learning — fund the team's judgment, not the roadmap.
Aftermath
As of June 10, 2025, Scouts was free with a waitlist and Yutori had no monetization plans, building on Meta's Llama in an agent space where, Batra said, 'I think we still have a shot.'
