Yang Ruigang — Tsinghua CS alumnus, Columbia PhD, former Baidu Robotics and Autonomous Driving Laboratory director whose team built AADS, billed as a forerunner of modern world models, and ex-CTO of autonomous-trucking unicorn Inceptio — founded NeoWa Robotics in Shanghai in February 2026. After helping scale autonomous trucks commercially, he concluded the autonomous-driving data flywheel transfers to mobile robots, and that delivery's last 500 meters is where demand is rigid.

NeoWa frames itself as a brain company for embodied traversal intelligence, targeting campus, park and building delivery where AMRs still stumble on unmarked paths, elevators and social etiquette. Public demos show mapless cross-floor navigation, stable hollow-stair traversal and social behaviors such as letting elevator passengers exit before boarding. The team, drawing members from Baidu, Huawei and Inceptio, leans on 3D reconstruction and physics simulation to generate synthetic training data. It closed a seed round led by Plug and Play China in March 2026, then a RMB 50M angel round led by Blue Lake Capital with Butong Capital and Gongqingcheng Puyi Investment in June 2026, and says it has signed deep partnerships with logistics and cultural-tourism players, with real-world WTM validation planned for later in 2026.
