起因

Jay Li, technical lead on Tesla's Optimus hand, tactile-sensing and glove work, and Jack Xu, who worked on Optimus and Tesla vehicle systems, founded Proception and went through Y Combinator's Winter 2025 batch; at the March 2025 Demo Day the Chinese media noted the startup was in the rare position of choosing its investors.

In June 2025 Tesla sued Proception and Li, alleging he took Optimus dexterous-hand trade secrets such as sensor layouts and control algorithms before leaving. In June 2026 Tesla withdrew the suit and the two sides settled; Proception simultaneously announced an $11M seed round led by First Round Capital with YC and BoxGroup, and said first batches of ProHand were shipping to researchers and robotics companies. ProHand 1.0 has 22 degrees of freedom (18 actuated), tendon-driven fingers and 96 tactile sensing units with 0.1N resolution; ProGlove 1.0 is a 1.3mm textile glove that captures human manipulation data without a robot in the loop.

Shipping and scaling: first hand batches delivered in June 2026 with larger orders opening; roadmap is a tactile foundation model in 2026, a humanoid prototype in 2027, and market deployment in 2028; revenue figures are undisclosed.
