The launch was rocky — server and performance problems drew immediate criticism — but the game hit #1 for downloads in over 100 regions within days and Kuro responded with in-game compensation, which mobilematters.gg credited with retaining players through the issues. It passed 30M downloads in three weeks (June 11, 2024) and $150M in gross mobile revenue in just over four months, led by Japan (23%), China (23%), Korea (17%) and the US (15%) per Appmagic estimates reported by mobilegamer.biz. Kuro appeared on Hurun's 2024 Global Unicorn List and later moved its headquarters to Guangzhou's Tianhe Smart City as it grew.

Wuthering Waves is still running and expanding: a PS5 version shipped in January 2025, a Mac version followed in March 2025, and it came to Steam in April 2025.
